The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is reporting that four national retailers have agreed to recall 150,000 Nap Nanny baby recliners after five infant deaths and numerous reports of infants falling out of the chairs. The CPSC is blaming a fault in the design and claims that the product poses a substantial risk and death to infants.

According to an article from the Chicago Tribune, Amazon.com, Buy Buy Baby, Diapers.com and Toys R Us/ Babies R Us are all participating in this recall after the manufacturer, Baby Matters LLC, went out of business.

The recall includes the Nap Nanny Generations One and Two and the Chill model that were sold between 2009 and 2012. It is estimated that about 100,000 Chill models have been sold since 2011.

This isn’t the first recall that the Nap Nanny has faced. In 2010 the CPSC recalled the product after receiving 22 reports of infants hanging or falling out of the side of the Nap Nanny and one infant death.

Baby Matters LLC, has refuted all claims of any issues with their products.
