Starting next week, around  one quarter of the world’s population will lose sleep and gain sunlight as they set their clocks ahead for daylight saving. People may think with the time shift; they are saving electricity. According to Time Magazine, studies have cast doubt on the energy argument some research even found that it ultimately leads to greater power use.

However, do take this time to remember to change the batteries in all the smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detectors in your home. Making a habit of changing those batteries as we change our clocks doubles a family's chance of escaping a home fire.
