Florida Peninsula Insurance Company, one of the top 10 largest homeowners insurance companies in Florida, did some important back-to-school shopping this week. On August 14, 2012, the Florida Peninsula employees donated 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to Diamond View Elementary School in Greenacres, Florida. The donation will help needy students just in time for the new school year, which begins August 20. The company also donated general supplies to the school, including pens, copy paper, loose leaf paper and Lysol wipes.

Diamond View Elementary teaches children from Kindergarten through fifth grade. Of the school’s nearly 900 registered students, 75 percent are on either reduced or free lunches, an indication of financial need.

Florida Peninsula employees contributed the money to purchase the backpacks and supplies, and volunteered to stuff the bags before the donation. Several employees were on hand at the school on donation day. Diamond View Principal Carolyn Seal and other school officials accepted the donation while the students finished up their last week of summer break.

Florida Peninsula is passionately committed to giving back to the communities where its employees work and live, and proudly supports several local charitable events. Employees have participated in several “Race for the Cure” events throughout 2012, as well as worked with the Head Start Program at C. Robert Markham Elementary School. Through this program the company has “adopted” students and their families and provided Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas presents and Easter baskets through donations from Florida Peninsula employees. The company was also recently selected by South Florida Business Journal as a finalist for its 2012 Best Places to Work awards.

Florida Peninsula focuses on home, condominium and renters insurance and serves more than 120,000 residents statewide.
