April 22nd is Earth Day

On April 22, 2017, we celebrate climate and environmental literacy. The importance of Earth Day is to help us realize the importance of the Earth we live on and educate others on ways they can help.  Florida Peninsula joined the fight against pollution, toxic dumping, and other mindless acts which negatively impact our fragile environment. Apart from encouraging our employees to recycle their empty cans and bottles daily, we also hosted our Annual Beach Clean Up on Saturday, April 8th. For more information on how you display an “Act of Green”, visit the official Earth Day website . To date, they have reached over 2 million Acts of Green and their goal is to reach 3 billion. There are many ways you can help, including planting or donating a tree, taking the Ecological Footprint Quiz to learn how you can reduce your impact on the planet, educating yourself about disposable plastic, and much more. We hope you will join the fight with us this year. Thank you for visiting our blog. ...

Florida Peninsula's Charity of the Month: Toys for Tots

Florida Peninsula's "Charity of the Month" for December is Toys for Tots, an organization which collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December each year to distribute them as Christmas gifts to children who are less fortunate.  This campaign is run by U.S. Marine Corps and their goal is to "deliver a message of hope to young children which will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens." In 2015, this program collected and distributed 18 million toys to 7 million children for Christmas.  Toys for Tots also has a Literacy Program which was partnered with the UPS Stores and raised over $319,000 in donations to purchase quality children's books. This allowed the distribution of over 3 million books to less fortunate children and schools located in depressed areas. Florida Peninsula hosted a toy drive at our corporate office, donating over 170 toys in support of Toys for Tots. The goal is to make a difference in these children's lives, one toy at a time. Give Thanks by Giving Back

Wondering how you can help the people of your community this year? Instead of putting all of the focus on the upcoming holidays, here are some ways you can give back.  Feed the Homeless: There are hundreds of different locations you can go to in your area to volunteer your time. A good example would be to search online at Feeding America or any similar website and pledge to be a volunteer. From there you can find food banks and shelters near you.  Donate: Each year, we stock up on food and snacks before having people over for just one event. While out shopping, make a habit of picking up some extra (non-perishable) items to donate. Some people even go as far as to decorate an entire holiday basket to give to a family.  Door Decorations:  If you know of a family in your neighborhood who is less-fortunate (and you think would welcome the support), decorate their door or front porch. A simple wreath or decorative leaves with a card would probably make all the difference to them.  Bake Treats:  While yo ...
